Tony Cartalucci – US Expands De Facto Syrian Invasion

The recent expansion of US military forces in Syria follows a predictable, singular agenda targeting this nation for decades – and more specifically – during the most recent and ongoing conflict which began in 2011 amid the US-engineered “Arab Spring.”

14 mars – Russian delegation slams UN commission’s report on Aleppo

The Russian delegation has slammed conclusions of the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Syrian Arab Republic as to events in Aleppo in June-December 2016.
At a session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, it said the aim of the report was to distort the facts. In its previous speeches at the Human Rights Council, Russian representatives “continuously marked an agenda-driven nature of Commission’s activity, an unbalanced nature of its reports,” the Russian delegation said.
As for the present report, “its aim is clear – presenting the operation to liberate Eastern Aleppo from Jabhat al-Nusra (outlawed in Russia) gunmen and associated with it groups not as an anti-terrorist campaign, but as some bloodbath staged by the Syrian armed forces with the support of the Russian Aerospace Forces,” it said.
Russia expects unbiased assessment of crimes in Aleppo from international community
The Russian diplomats drew attention to the date when the report on Aleppo was issued. It was made public on March 1, when a next round of intra-Syrian talks was underway in Geneva. Efforts were needed to create a positive atmosphere for a dialog, but the authors of the report “chose a different path”.

Gareth Porter – A Flawed UN Investigation on Syria

U.N. investigators increasingly make their conclusions fall in line with Western propaganda, especially on the war in Syria, as occurred in a distorted report about last year’s attack on an aid convoy, explains Gareth Porter. – Russia recalls UNSC draft statement on Damascus attack due to West’s position

Russia was forced to recall its draft statement of the United Nations Security Council condemning the March 11 terror attack in Damascus because a number of Western countries tried to change the document’s essence, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Security Council often fails to find a common language on the Syrian crisis. “Thus, the politically-motivated position of a number of its Western members made it impossible to reach consensus on the Russia-initiated draft press statement condemning the hideous terror attack in Damascus on March 11 that claimed, according to the latest reports, more than 70 lives,” the ministry said. – “They [Americans] are invaders,” says Syrian President in new interview

Barbara Nimri Aziz – Letter to My Friend in Damascus. The Recently Announced American Invasion into Your Country

I am afraid to ask you you’re feelings about the recently announced American invasion into your country. In our talks these past months, we’ve spoken only about hardships: the increasing scarcity of electricity, water and food shortages, an absence of home heating fuel. This in the capital, Damascus, where people can still go to school and to work, where some local buses can navigate through the mud and debris, where drivers can sometimes find petrol for their cars.

9 mars – US confirms deployment of hundreds of Marines to Syria to fight ISIS

Hundreds of US Marines have arrived in Syria to establish an outpost in support of the operation to retake the city of Raqqa, the de-facto Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) capital in the country, the US-led coalition confirmed on Thursday.
”We are talking about an additional 400 or so forces in total, and they will be there for a temporary period,” coalition spokesman US Air Force Colonel John Dorrian said, as cited by Reuters.
The deployment is an addition to the existing 500 US forces already in Syria and is aimed at accelerating the defeat of IS in its Syrian stronghold of Raqqa city, Dorrian said. – Syrian War Report: ISIS Defenses Collapsing in Aleppo Province – UN Syria envoy: Next round of Geneva talks set for March 23 – Protests erupt in Idlib as Turkey steals Syrian land with new border wall – Swedish Doctors for Human Rights: White Helmets Video, Macabre Manipulation of Dead Children and Staged Chemical Weapons Attack to Justify a “No-Fly Zone” in Syria

Mark Taliano and Sarah Abed – Syria: The Criminal Empire’s Strategy Of Divide, Conquer, and Destroy

Syrian-American Sarah Abed, was born in Al Qamishly and has lived in both the USA and Syria throughout her life. She makes frequent trips back and forth. Sarah is in direct daily contact with family and friends that reside in different parts of Syria. Sarah conducted and translated an interview with a close family friend, “Samir”, who lives in Syria and is well informed about the conditions on the ground.
Samir’s commentaries are consistent with President Assad’s assessment of the Imperialists’ strategy of “divide and conquer”:
Question: What was life like in Al Hasaka prior to the launch of the dirty war on Syria?
Answer: Life was great. The diversity was a positive attribute to the area. Al Hasaka is influenced by the Turkish, Syrian, and Kurdish cultures. You would see Turkish soap operas on local TV. , hear Turkish music, along with Merdali, and other types in the streets, blaring from the speakers of cars. I used to go to the music shops and pick up the latest Turkish songs. There were many restaurants, hospitals, hotels, and outdoor parks. Kurds had assimilated into the culture. They were considered Syrian citizens. Many of the Christians had family in Sweden. They would come for the summer. There were good relations between all of the different ethnicities and religious affiliations. It was hard to distinguish who was who in the streets. There was a bustling social life and people were generally content with their lives.

Hiroyuki Hamada – How Much Does It Cost to Tell a Lie That Big?

It was quite expected but I am having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that the US backed propaganda organization, the White Helmets (1), has effectively received an Oscar for the short documentary film about them. Which, of course, indicates that it is not just acceptable to twist facts and call a group of people with documented criminal activities “heroes”, but it is acceptable to award them with cultural, artistic and humanistic recognition. And it is all for the sake of waging a colonial war against a country that does not quite follow the imperial ways (2)(3).
How much does it cost to tell a lie that big? What is the human price of making people complicit in a project of death and suffering? What consequences do we pay in erasing facts and twisting history when we regard ourselves as cultural beings? But all these questions are perhaps trivial compared to the 500,000 deaths, displacements of half of the population, and all the destructions inflicted by the imperial assault against Syria so far.
This is a huge operation involving many layers of the establishment and the society at large. How can so many people claim to be blind to the facts and accept the lies and deceptions?

1 mars – Surprise Surprise: MSM Ignores What UN Report on Syrian Gas Attack Actually Said

On Tuesday, Russia and China vetoed a resolution proposing tougher sanctions against Syria, based in part on a recent OPCW-UN report on the Syrian government’s alleged use of chemical weapons in 2014 and 2015. Asked to comment, respected security analyst Charles Shoebridge pointed out that most media didn’t even seem to bother reading the report.

Barbara McKenzie – Syria Solidarity UK Take on Vanessa Beeley – and Lose

One of the most difficult things about reporting on a war that claims to be a civil war or a popular revolution, is to gauge the feelings of the ordinary people. The Syrian voice in practice tends to be reduced to ‘my friend’s cousin’, or ‘three people I spoke to in a refugee camp in Jordan’, or ‘all the ex-pats’. This was never going to be good enough for Vanessa Beeley.
