District after district have fallen to the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), forcing the jihadist rebels to rapidly retreat south in order to avoid being overrun and outflanked by the pressing forces in eastern Aleppo.

With the northern part captured, the Syrian Armed Forces can now turn their attention to the last half of the east Aleppo pocket; this will arguably the most difficult battle they face inside the provincial capital.

Some 3,179 people, including 1,519 children – among them 138 newborn babies – have left Eastern Aleppo through the ‘humanitarian corridors’ set up by Syrian government forces, Russian Reconciliation Center said on Monday.
The statement added that 10 blocks and more than 3,000 buildings have been cleared of Al-Nusra Front militants to the date. The militants have also been pushed out of al-Qadisiyah, a key Aleppo district.
