Sharmine Narwani and Radwan Mortada – Questions Plague UN Report on Syria
.. a closer look at the charts shows a massive discrepancy in lab results from east and west Ghouta. There is not a single environmental sample in Moadamiyah that tested positive for Sarin.
This is a critical piece of information. These samples were taken from “impact sites and surrounding areas” identified by numerous parties, not just random areas in the town. Furthermore, in Moadamiyah, the environmental samples were taken five days after the reported CW attack, whereas in Ein Tarma and Zamalka – where many samples tested positive for Sarin – UN investigators collected those samples seven and eight days post-attack, when degradation of chemical agents could have been more pronounced.
Yet it is in Moadamiyah where alleged victims of a CW attack tested highest for Sarin exposure ..
Christof Lehmann – Russia – China and CSTO draw Red Line about NATO Despotism
Following US attempts to blackmail Russia into adopting a Security Council resolution which would pave the way for a US aggression against Syria under the UN Charter’s Chapter 7, by threatening to block Syria’s accession to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, China and Russia responded by drawing an unequivocal red line with regards to Syria. The Chinese and Russian position has the support of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), who stressed the need for a peaceful resolution to the situation in Syria at a CSTO council meeting on Monday.
infowars.com –Saudi Arabia Threatens to “End Career” of AP Reporter Over Chemical Weapons Story – Press TV – US reporter threatened by Saudi Arabia over Syria chemical weapons attack
Associated Press reporter Dale Gavlak has been threatened over her involvement in a story which exposed how Syrian rebels were responsible for the August 21st chemical weapons attack after being handed the weapons by Saudi intelligence agents.
Intervju med den religiöse ledare som erbjöds en stor summa pengar för att delta på oppositionens sida, men som avböjde, och vars son senare mördades. Tror att det var på hösten 2011, inte förra året som det står i artikeln.
Robert Fisk – ”I had five sons, now I have four”: Syria’s senior cleric pardons the rebels who killed his son, The Grand Mufti of Syria preaches a message of forgiveness
‘I met those men who assassinated my own son – and they told me they didn’t even know whom they were killing.” Sheikh Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun, the Grand Mufti of Syria, sits in a straightbacked chair, his immaculate white turban atop a narrow, intelligent and very troubled face. His son Sania was a second-grade student at Aleppo University when he was shot dead getting into his car. “I went to see the two men in the court and they said they’d just been given the number of the car’s registration plate, that they didn’t know whom they had killed until they went home and watched the news on television.”
I ask for his reaction to the men’s confession, and the Grand Mufti puts his hands over his eyes and weeps. “He was only 21, my youngest son.
“All the men involved were Syrians, from the countryside of Aleppo. They said they received their command from Turkey and Saudi Arabia, that they were each paid 50,000 Syrian pounds. This shows that my son’s killing was not out of doctrine or belief. The two men were 18 or 19 only.”
The first major use of gas came in March at Khan al-Assal in Aleppo province, near the Mufti’s residence, when at least 26 civilians suffocated to death. This is his version of what happened.
“Some of the farm labourers reported to me that all the terrorists in the area had suddenly left – the night before the attack – and had evacuated all their people. So the civilians were happy – they were civilians and many were the wives and children of soldiers – and so they went back at last to their homes. Then came the chemical missile attack. I said at that time, in March, that this event is just an experiment, that gas will be used again in other places.”
Jean Bricmont and Diana Johnstone – No More War for Israel? The People Against the 800 Pound Gorilla
The past ten days have seen what could be the start of an historic turning point away from endless war in the Middle East. Public opinion in the United States, in harmony with the majority of people in the world, has clearly rejected U.S. military intervention in Syria.
For now, the threat of war has been avoided, or at least “postponed”. Let us not forget that Iraq and Libya also gave up their weapons of mass destruction, only to be attacked later. Syria is likely to abandon its chemical weapons, but without any guarantee that the rebels, much less Israel, won’t retain such weapons. The popular mobilization against the war, probably the first one in history to stop a war before it starts, has been intense but may be short-lived. Those whose war plans have been interrupted can be expected to come up with new maneuvers to regain the initiative. These past days have given a glimpse of what can be accomplished when people wake up and say no to war. This must be an inspiration for continued efforts to make diplomacy prevail over bullying, and mutual disarmament over endless war. If people really want peace, it can be possible.
Yekbun Alp – Al-Qaidas svenska värvningskampanj måste fram i ljuset
voiceofrussia.com – Assad slams US, France on UN draft resolution on Syria
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad denounced the United States, France and Britain for submitting a draft resolution to the UN Security Council to place Syrian chemical weapons under international control, saying they were fighting an ”imaginary enemy”.
Assad, who was interviewed by China’s state television CCTV in Damascus, the Syrian capital, said he was not concerned about the draft resolution and that Chinaand Russia would ”ensure any excuse for military action against Syria will not stand.”
