voiceofrussia.com – Putin, Obama agree to exchange data on Syria’s chemical arsenal – Lavrov’s interview
The US has promised Russia to try to persuade the Western-recognized faction of the Syrian opposition to send delegates to the second Geneva conference on Syria.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has insisted on UN-authorized investigations into allegations that chemical arms have been smuggled from Europe into Syria.
”As regards reports on supposed supplies of chemical weapons from Europe, they need double-checking. All that must be put before the UN Security Council and investigated. If it is confirmed, the [smuggling] channels will have to be found out and cut short immediately,” Lavrov said in a Russian television program on Saturday.
VARNING! Lavrov varnar för att FN-rapporten som beräknas presenteras på måndag kan ha förvanskats.
Someone might be trying to retouch UN report on chemical attack in Syria – Lavrov
”There are grounds to suspect that someone might be currently trying to retouch the report to be presented on Monday this or that way compared to what the inspectors have actually written,” Lavrov said at a press conference following negotiations with US Secretary of State John Kerry in Geneva on Saturday.

The bottom line regarding the UN’s upcoming report regarding the August 21, 2013 chemical weapons attack in Damascus, Syria is best summed up by the BBC’s article, ”Syria crisis: UN report to confirm chemical arms attack” [emphasis added]:
Ban Ki-moon made no comment on who was to blame for the 21 August attack in the Ghouta area of Damascus, as that is not part of the report’s remit.
Despite this, the United States and its axis of collaborators are already trying to spin the report as confirmation that the Syrian government was responsible.
Saudiske prins Bandar var på besök i Moskva i början av augusti. Efter att Putin sagt att de stod fast vid sin position vad gäller Syrien, sa Bandar att det nog inte fanns någon annan väg än en amerikansk militär inblandning. Toward the end of the meeting, Bandar again discussed the Syrian issue at length. He stressed that as far as Riyadh was concerned, there was no future for the Assad Administration. “The Syrian regime is finished as far as we and the majority of the Syrian people are concerned,” Bandar said, and they, the Syrian people, “will not allow President Bashar al-Assad to remain at the helm.”
Putin responded that Moscow’s “stance on Assad will never change. We believe that the Syrian regime is the best speaker on behalf of the Syrian people, and not those liver eaters.” Again, Bandar resorted to threats. He warned Putin that their dispute over the future of Syria led him, Bandar, to conclude that “there is no escape from the [US-led] military option, because it is the only currently available choice given that the political settlement ended in stalemate”. Bandar added that Riyadh saw no future for the negotiating process.
Several Arab leaders, as well as senior intelligence and defense officials from the Arabian Peninsula are now convinced that the chemical strike was aimed to provoke a US-led military intervention which would in turn lead to the toppling of Bashar al-Assad and the empowerment of an Islamist government in Damascus.
Christof Lehmann – CIA delivers Weapons to Insurgents in Syria
The CIA has been delivering weapons to insurgents in Syria for several weeks. The arms deliveries began after U.S. President Barak Obama decided to provide weapons for the foreign-backed insurgency and the visit of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Army General Martin Dempsey to Jordan at a time when major Saudi Arabian weapons shipments were delivered to the insurgents via Jordan.
The CIA weapons deliveries are classified as covert operation, which is limiting which committees of the U.S. Congress have access to the information.
Besides the delivery of light machine guns, the CIA has made arrangements for the insurgents to receive anti-tank weapons including rocket-propelled grenades through a third party, presumably one of the Gulf Arab countries, said a senior U.S. Intelligence official and two former intelligence officials on Thursday.
The statements were made on condition of anonymity because they were “not authorized to discuss the classified program publicly”.

theguardian.com – Syria crisis: US and Russia agree chemical weapons deal
The agreement seems to remove the prospect of any strike against Syria following the chemical attacks in Damascus on 21 August which killed up to 1,300 people.
”Any violations of procedures … would be looked at by the security council and if they are approved, the security council would take the required measures, concrete measures,” Lavrov said.
”Nothing is said about the use of force or about any automatic sanctions. All violations should be approved by the security council.”
rt.com – Turkish prosecutors indict Syrian rebels for seeking chemical weapons
A court indictment by the Turkish prosecutors into the alleged use of chemical weapons by the Syrian rebels has once again highlighted fears this week that sarin toxic gas was used by the opposition and not the Assad government.
The prosecutor in the Turkish city of Adana has issued a 132-page indictment, alleging that six men of the al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front and Ahrar ash-Sham tried to seek out chemicals with the intent to produce the nerve agent, sarin gas, a number of Turkish publications reported.
