‘US seeks a way out of Syria swamp’, Press TV has conducted an interview with Redwan Rizk, political analyst, about the US call for a political solution to the Syrian conflict
Now they are trying to find out a way with the Russians so they cannot go further and they cannot be dragged more and more into the Syrian swamp because they know that after all, all those people who are being sent to Syria they are getting killed and sooner they will be all eliminated.
Christof Lehmann – Syria after Kerry´s Moscow Visit. Seemingly Positive Words Barely Cover Over Looming Risk for Regional War
Neither US Secretary of State John Kerry or the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov mentioned the existence of a vibrant, politically active political spectrum of opposition parties and political operations in Syria, that these parties and organizations are actively taking part in the national dialog, that these parties and organizations stand firmly behind the Syrian government and against foreign intervention.
What is maybe even more critical is the fact that neither side emphasized that the foreign backed opposition, if it would want to participate in the national dialog, would have to accept that they would be one of many organizations who are represented within the national dialog process.
Superficially, the words of US Secretary of State John Kerry may seem reassuring. A closer look however, reveals that it will be extremely difficult, if not impossible to transform the words into actual conflict resolution.
Kerry´s use of the words “road map” to describe the Geneva Communiqué cannot fail to conjure up thoughts about the Oslo Accords and the “road map to peace” between Israel and Palestine. Since the ratification of the Olso Accords Palestinians have experienced more than a decade of “Peace Process” which has resulted in thousands of dead Palestinians and increased occupation.
The question whether the USA perceives the planned international meeting to follow up on the Geneva Communiqué as a ploy to bide time while strategic objectives are achieved will most probably have to be answered with an unequivocal “yes”.
Another major obstacle will be the question which position an “opposition”, who eventually would take part in an international conference would be having.
The opinions about which role and which privileges this “opposition” shall have may differ widely.
While “the opposition” and the USA most probably will insist that ”the opposition” is “representative of the Syrian people” , it is highly improbable that this would be accepted by the Syrian government and the Syrian political parties and organizations who have been actively engaged in the national dialog.

english.farsnews.com – Russia Not to Tolerate Further Israeli Attacks on Damascus
Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, while in Shanghai, was given a sharp dressing-down by Russian President Vladimir Putin, a warning that Russia would not tolerate further Israeli attacks on Damascus and would respond.
Putin did not say how, but he did announce he had ordered the acceleration of highly advanced Russian weapons supplies to Syria.
Israeli Debkafile’s military sources disclosed that the Russian leader was referring to S-300 anti-air systems and the nuclear-capable 9K720 Iskander (NATO named SS-26 Stone) surface missiles, which are precise enough to hit a target within a 5-7 meter radius at a distance of 280 kilometers.
In his phone call to Netanyahu, the Russian leader advised the prime minister to make sure to keep this in mind.
Since Syrian air defense teams have already trained in Russia on the handling of the S-300 interceptor batteries, they can go into service as soon as they are landed by one of Russia’s daily airlifts to Syria. Russian air defense officials will supervise their deployment and prepare them for operation.
Moscow is retaliating not just for Israel’s air operations against Syria but in anticipation of the Obama administration’s impending decision to send the first US arms shipments to the Syrian rebels.
Intelligence agencies in Moscow and the Middle-East take it for granted that by the time Washington goes public on this decision, some of the Syrian rebel factions will already be armed with American weapons.

Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN Dr. Bashar al Jaafari said that Jabhet al-Nusra, the terrorist organization affiliated with Al Qaeda, claimed responsibility on its own network for 600 terrorists acts within the past year alone.
During a Security Council session on Friday, al-Jaafari said that the increasing spread of extremism and terrorism in Syria is taking place with the blessing and support of a number of UN member countries, and that this is welcomed by Salafi, Wahabi, Takfiri and extremist circles in certain countries, some of which claim to be pioneers in combating terrorism.
He pointed out that some Security Council member countries hindered nine times the issuing of mere press statements that condemn terrorist bombings which claimed hundreds of innocent Syrian civilians’ lives.
