Moscow warns Syria rebels could seize chemical weapons
A decision by the Friends of Syria to recognize the Syrian opposition as the sole legitimate representative of the Syrian people makes the peaceful settlement of the Syrian conflict impossible, chairman of the Russian State Duma committee on international affairs Alexei Pushkov wrote on his Twitter page on Thursday.
english.ruvr.ru – Syria denies using Scud missiles against militants
In a statement on Thursday, the Syrian Foreign Ministry denied the reports that the Syrian government is using Scud missiles against armed opposition groups.
Man förnekar alltså från officellt håll att man använt dessa missiler mot de väpnade grupperna. Syrian Perspective skrev att Syrien har egentillverkade missiler tillverkade efter Nordkoreansk design. Här är hans senaste kommentar om detta:
Syrian state t.v. has denied the reports that the government has fired Scuds at Northern Syria. I tend to believe it has only because reports coming in indicate a huge defeat for the terrorist rats in the area of the airport. However, one would think the mercenaries would take a photo of a Scud either landing or creating a large crater. So far, nothing.

Sources: Syrian Rebels Training On Anti-Aircraft Weapons In Jordan – antiwar.com – US Providing Training to Syrian Rebels in Jordan
One Syrian rebel fighter, who did not want to be named, said he attended a training course in Jordan and that the training was not led by uniformed Western soldiers, but rather by men in plainclothes who spoke several different dialects of Arabic. This suggests the trainers may have been private contractors, who are sometimes used by the U.S. for training and assembly of sophisticated weaponry. The rebel fighter also said members of the Jordanian military attended the training sessions.
The source said he and about 25 others took part in the course. He said a handful of rebel groups fighting inside Syria each sent a few men to the training.
Another source said hundreds of men have done the training in the past two to three months.
Russia Today – Syrian rebels set to execute Ukrainian journalist – Kidnapped Journalist Anhar Kochneva’s Mother Plea to Kidnappers
NGOs are urging Syrian rebels to release a Ukrainian journalist, Anhar Kochneva, who is set to be executed Thursday. Meanwhile the group behind the kidnapping warned it would now target all Russians, Ukrainians and Iranians on Syrian soil.
The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), ARTICLE 19, the International Press Institute and Reporters Without Borders issued a joint statement expressing deep concern about Kochneva’s life and urging the leadership of the Free Syrian Army and of the Syrian Opposition Coalition to ensure that the journalist is safe and set free.
The groups also called on the French, British and US governments, as well as the European Union to work with the Syrian opposition to facilitate her release.
Kochneva, who has reported critically about the Syrian rebels for Russian and Ukrainian news outlets, was captured in the beginning of October near the restive city of Homs. The kidnappers, allegedly members of the Free Syrian Army, threatened to kill her on December 13 if a US$ 50 million ransom is not paid.
english.ruvr.ru – Syrian opposition victory possible, but at an absolutely unacceptable price – Moscow
Syrian Perspective‘s syn på detta uttalande om att en seger för ”rebellerna” är möjlig:
Here is how we read Mr. Bogdanov’s statement. It was meant to be understood that Russia might intervene, and soon, on the ground in Syria to prevent a NATO-Terrorist victory of the kind seen in Libya. There has to be a justification for such intervention; the West needed it for Libya and used its specious argument for ”defending civilians” as the basis. When Sergei Lavrov announces clearly that the United States has violated its agreement under the Geneva Declaration; that NATO is, in fact, directly involved in fighting in Syria; you will know that the atmosphere is right for a full Russian commitment to Syria’s defense
Rebel victory possible in Syria, but at unacceptable price – Russia
The massacre at Akrab is well-known to SyrPer and evidence coming in from sources like Ali in Homs is that it was definitely committed by FSA terrorist mercenaries. Akrab is a largely Alawi village whose inhabitants support Dr. Assad without question. The terrorists, who had been driven from Homs, came in to get one last shot at the government’s most ardent supporters. Ali says that the films being shown by the opposition are staged. The names of the people they claim killed ”are made up”. As he put it: ”our group knows everybody in our group. These were not people whose names we recognized.”
Ali says that the villagers were armed and could have resisted but for the fact that the terrorists came in dressed like militia with green camouflage and no stripes, aiguilletes or other military identification. There were about fifty of them with the leader speaking in ”an accent just like ours”. Ali said that ”he could have been a Sunni from Al-Haffeh, Salma or even from the villages around Jisr Al-Shughour. The people would not have known he was a terrorist.”.
Children interviewed by police after the massacre confirmed that the killers were mostly non-Syrians. The evidence indicates at the present time that the majority of the murderers were Iraqis and Saudis with a large number of Syrian Salafists among them. They forced the inhabitants into a circle inside a warehouse where they opened fire on them. The terrorist rats then tried to blame the massacre on militia loyal to the state.

presstv.ir – Ex-Spain officer trains Syria militants
Luis Munar arrived in the crisis-hit Syria for the second time through the Bab al-Hawa border crossing between Turkey and Syria to further train hundreds of militants, mostly as young as 15, who learnt different warfare tactics during Munar’s first trip to Syria, AFP said in a report on Thursday.
On his first trip, which lasted for a month, Munar was sent to several towns in the northwestern province of Idlib as well as the flashpoint city of Aleppo and taught hand-to-hand combat and techniques of using AK-47 assault rifles to the militants.
