UN not to renew Syria observer mission
The United Nations Security Council has announced that it will not renew its observer mission in Syria after the expiry of its mandate.
”The mandate of UN Supervision Mission in Syria (UNSMIS) is over on the 19th of August…UNSMIS will fade out,” Reuters quoted French Ambassador to the UN Gerard Araud, who is the current president of the council, as saying at a press conference after a closed-door council meeting on Thursday.
Russian envoy to the UN Vitaly Churkin expressed regret over the council’s decision.
”We’re sorry that the UNSMIS mandate is coming to an end…We believe that those members of the council, who insisted that the UNSMIS can’t continue did not really show commitment to ending hostilities and to working toward a political settlement in Syria,” Churkin told reporters.

Russian embassy in UK attacked by vandals
Russia’s embassy in London has been attacked by vandals chanting anti-Syrian slogans, while the British police took no measures to stop the violence or detain the attackers.
Thierry Meyssan – Syria is only a pretext
Western governments have no interest in the welfare of Syria since they are the ones arming the mercenaries who are torturing and murdering Syrians on a grand scale and they have no intention of stopping. Their diplomatic activity is exclusively directed towards a formal denunciation of Russia and China and, further, toward a challenge of the very existence of international law.
James F. Tracy – Censored Tehran Peace Conference and Media Disinformation
If anyone needs additional proof of the tremendous censorial control wielded over corporate and alleged “independent” media regarding Western powers’ imperialist projects they need look no further than the thorough news blackout of the August 9 Tehran Consultative Conference on Syria. As this censorship ensued, ”progressive” news outlets continued their barrage of dubious and misleading information on the continuing turmoil within Syria.
The August 9 Tehran conference was sponsored by the Islamic Republic of Iran, attended by representatives from close to 30 nations, including Russia, China, India, Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, Venezuela, Cuba, and the UN envoy to Tehran. Its express intent was to “strengthen all-out regional and international efforts to help Syrian people to find a way out of ongoing crisis and prepare a suitable ground for national dialogue in a peaceful atmosphere.”
Svensk Bonniermedias just nu mest censurerade nyhet
OIC Decision to Suspend Syria Membership a Violation of the Organization’s Charter.. the US Leads Conspiracy against Syria
Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem said that suspending Syria’s membership at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is a violation of the organization’s charter as its decisions are taken unanimously, indicating that several countries have informed him of their rejection of the decision.
In a special interview with the Syrian TV broadcast on Thursday, al-Moallem said that the Arab League and OIC have not only suspended Syria’s membership, but also conspired against it, adding that they are responsible for the bloodshed in Syria.
Syria has cooperated with the UN and Mr. Annan.. Syria has always asked him about the commitment of the other party and the neighboring countries.. but he had no ability to get any commitment for his plan from them,” the Foreign Minister said.
Al-Moallem added “We also asked him about the coming of mercenaries from Arab and non-Arab countries to fight in Syria.. he ( Annan) was saying: I admit that there is a third party, we were asking: is it al-Qaeda.. he was answering: I don’t want to respond.”
