Dr. Jihad Maqdisi: Syria Committed to Positively Cooperate with Kofi Annan
Maqdisi asserted that the battle as to down the State in Syria failed and that the battle for stabilization and upgrading the renewed Syria started on the way of development and reforms. Dr. Maqdisi urged Mr. Annan to tour the countries which finance, host and encourage the opposition.
The presence of the illegitimate armed elements within the opposition components is clearly documented internationally and legally and is acknowledged by the latest report issued by Arab Observers Mission, outlined Maqdisi.
”The presence of the Syrian Arab Army in Syrian Cities is for defensive purposes as to protect the civilians, of whom large numbers are taken as hostages to strike against the stability of the country. Once peace and security prevail, the Army is to pull out.” said Dr. Maqdisi.
”The withdrawal of armed appearances would take place once any zone is returned to normal life, and once citizens are able to send their children to schools, restore their normal life, and NOT for allowing the citizens to be taken as hostages, and for power centers to be exploded, people to be killed in the streets, and for arming to be increased,” added Maqdisi recalling the past experience with armed groups which tried to control entire zones once the Army pulled out.
Hur ska man kunna dra tillbaka regeringsstyrkorna från städerna i Syrien så länge västländerna och deras hantlangare fortsätter att hyra in legokrigare som man förser med vapen och skickar in i Syrien?
United States Moves Closer to Direct Intervention in Syria
The United States and more than 60 other countries moved closer on Sunday to direct intervention in the fighting in Syria, with Arab nations pledging $100 million to pay opposition fighters and the Obama administration agreeing to send communications equipment to help rebels organize and evade Syria’s military, according to participants gathered here.
Saudis Seek to Funnel Arms to Syria Rebels
Saudi Arabia has pressed Jordan to open its border with Syria to allow weapons to reach rebels fighting President Bashar al-Assad’s regime, officials from both countries say, a move that could buoy Syria’s opposition and harden the conflict in the country and across the region.
Lebanese Defense Minister, Fayez Ghusn, stressed that smuggling weapons into Syria is continuous and the Lebanese army is exerting efforts to combat it as much as possible as it deals firmly with this issue.
“ Smuggling weapons persists and is in fact increasing; the army is fighting it as much as it can but the smuggling operations are on the rise because they bring lots of profit and money,” Ghusn told An-Nahar newspaper on Sunday.
He added the borders with Syria, which extend 330 kilometers, include several illegal crossings making it difficult to monitor and control them from both sides.
“The army is ready but sometimes there are gaps and problems,” he said, adding that there are two main groups of the Lebanese army which are deployed on all the crossings.
Gunmen Caught in Damascus and Daraa Countryside
Christof Lehmann – Syria – The De-Construction of a Fraudulent Season and and the Possibity of a Real Syrian Spring
After months of relentless unconventional and undeclared war on Syria by NATO and the Gulf Cooperation Council member states a six point plan has been brokered by Kofi Annan. The “Assad must go” dictate is off the table, and so is the demand that only a military solution is a viable option. Syria and it`s citizens are facing a near future where important, difficult, and painful decisions will have to be made for the future of the country.
Supporting the legally formed political parties, including the Baath Party by denying a platform for those who preach violence, and demanding, that the next coming parliament forms a government of national unity for one or two legislative periods until the new parties have had time to consolidate, is most likely the most constructive solution. A solution that will ensure Syrian sovereignty in Syria and peace. It is also a solution that will be vehemently opposed by those foreign interests who would like to see a weak, unstable and chaotic Syria for the foreseeable future as part of the strategic isolation of Iran and Russia.
