The Syrian regime has come under fire from a new UN report claiming both the government and opposition are committing gross human rights violations. It claims Damascus is responsible for the largest share of the violence, while rebels are accused of kidnapping civilians and torturing captured soldiers. Meanwhile, Amnesty International has slammed the UN Security Council as ”increasingly unfit for purpose” and too slow to act on Syria. The world body dispatched an observer mission to the country, where it’s estimated around ten thousand people have been killed since March last year.
Author William Engdahl says however that Syria must be left alone to determine its own future.

Ford, is the key State Department official who has been responsible for recruiting Arab ”death squads” from Al Qaeda-affiliated units in Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, and Chechnya to fight against Syrian military and police forces in embattled Syria. Ford served as the Political Officer at the U.S. embassy in Baghdad from 2004 to 2006 under Ambassador John Negroponte, the U.S. ambassador to Honduras from 1981 to 1985. Negroponte was a key figure in the covert U.S. program to arm the Nicaraguan contras and his support for vicious paramilitary units in El Salvador and Honduras earned him the nickname of ”Mr. Death Squad.”
Negroponte tasked Ford with implementing the ”El Salvador option” in Iraq, the use of Iraqi Shi’a irregulars and Kurdish Pesh Merga paramilitary forces to target for assassination and kidnapping/torture Iraqi insurgency leaders in Iraq and across the border in Syria. The operation was named for Negroponte’s death squad operation in Central America in the 1980s.

Lavrov: Armed Syrian opposition and supporting countries want to foil Annan’s plan

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the armed Syrian opposition and the countries which support it try to foil the plan of the UN Special Envoy to Syria, Kofi Annan.
In a press conference on Wednesday, Lavrov said the goal of the armed opposition and the countries which provide it with money and arms is so clear for Moscow, which is to foil Annan’s peace plan.
”All this is taking place in flagrant violation of the UN resolutions which have fully and completely approved this plan that includes demands of immediate halt of violence not only by the Syrian government but also by all opposition groups, particularly the armed opposition,” Lavrov added.

We are not going to invade anybody,’ but I think what the Russians are saying seems to reflect Russian intelligence that there is such a proposal or plan that is being readied.

The visiting UN peacekeeping chief Herve Ladsous on Monday warned here of the presence of terrorist groups in Syria, who are trying to capitalize on the current unrest to achieve certain gains.
”We know that there are … a third party, terrorist groups, who are trying to gain advantage for themselves… but we have to see this as an issue within Syria, between the Syrians,” he said during a press conference in Damascus.

He noted that the number of UN military observers is now 270, adding that they are now deployed in six cities and soon they will be deployed in 10 cities.
”I am not saying that the violence ceased altogether but clearly it diminished,” he said, adding that he had met with the government and the opposition in Syria.

In reality, it is a premeditated destabilization dependent on fostering violence between Sunni and Shi’ia Muslims, just as was purposefully done in Iraq to balk an effective Sunni-Shi’ia alliance that achieved initial success fighting a foreign occupation led by the US starting in 2003.
While exposing the premeditated nature of the destabilization consuming Lebanon and Syria is essential, as well as calling for international condemnation of the US for openly attempting to escalate violence in the middle of a mediated ceasefire, calling on people across the Islamic World to refrain from falling into this sectarian trap, and being used as tools of their own division and subjugation by the West is equally important.

Därför måste FN:s fredsplan skjutas i sank och ropen på en militär insats understödjas.
Därför väljer USA och dess vänner att under en pågående fredsprocess backa upp oppositionens allt brutalare våld.

Intervju med Syriens president Bashar Al-Assad i rysk TV – We can’t win media war with West but it’s not battle that counts – Assad

Assad admits that Syria is losing the media war against the West, but says “the reality is what really matters” and not “the illusions” created by the media.
He said that the media outplayed the Syrian government in the very beginning of the conflict by making up stories and spreading rumors. But in the long term the media cannot beat the reality, he added, and eventually the circumstances have changed because what is really happening is very much different from what the media reports.
Assad also said that the Syrian government repeatedly tried to express its point of view to numerous international journalists, but the agencies kept sending to Syria only those people who would stick with the same lies and false picture created in the first days of the conflict.

När FN-observatörerna var i Homs nyligen fanns fem personer i deras bil när de skulle köra ut från staden mot fyra när de körde in! Syriska militären bad att få se identifikationshandlingar för den nya personen men observatörerna ville inte visa några sådana. Enligt uppgiftslämnare ska det ha visat sig att den femte personen var en fransk officerare! Alltså ännu en, ett ganska stort antal (20?) togs ju tillfånga för ett par månader sen i Homs.

Terrorist groups fighting against the Syrian government have killed 23 more security forces in the northern city of Rastan, opposition activists reported.
According to the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, dozens of others were also injured in the early morning violence on the outskirts of Rastan, in the crisis-hit Homs Province, on Monday.

The UN observer mission in Syria has now been attacked twice in the past week by NATO-backed terrorist death squads, who have also killed scores in Damascus with coordinated suicide bombs on government agencies. The killers are obviously al Qaeda fanatics in the service of NATO, but Norwegian NATO General Robert Mood of the observer mission refuses to pin the responsbility where it belongs – on his fellow NATO officers. The purpose of observers must be to observe and report, but the UN reporters have reported virtually nothing — because they are acting as tools of NATO.
Syrian UN ambassador Jafari has exposed the role of Turkey, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar in deploying terrorist fighters from Libya and Turkey into Syria. Jafari called attention to a CD prepared by the Syrian government showing the confessions of some of these foreign fanatics.
As for Kofi Annan, his Geneva press conference was another whitewash of NATO. If Annan wants to start reconciliation talks, he should announce a date certain for the convening of a national dialogue at the peace table in Geneva. The Syrian government is sure to attend. The congeries of fanatics, dupes, and foreign fighters calling itself variously Syrian National Council or Free Syrian Army is not likely to appear. If they do appear, they are likely to start killing each other before they enter the conference room. NATO, like Hitler before he swallowed Czechoslovakia in 1938, does not want a peaceful solution to the Syrian troubles, but rather wants to keep internal conflict alive sp it can be used as the pretext for invasion, regime chaange, and partition.
Ban Ki Moon, Kofi Annan, Navi Pillay, Valerie Amos, and Gen. Mood are thus imperialist operatives, not international civil servants. With corrupt personnel like this, the United Nations risks extinction on the model of the League of Nations, which perished because it refused to oppose fascist aggression in the 1930s. We are today witnessing the transition away from any concept of collective security in favor of naked appeasement and complicity with the US-UK-NATO aggressor coalition.

3 cadets at the Military Academy and a law-enforcement member were martyred and another injured by an armed terrorist group’s gunfire while they were on their way to their workplace in Homs city. The armed group targeted their car on Homs-Al-Makhram road near Nawa village in Homs countryside.
The martyrs are: Cadets Khodr al-Okda, Adnan Khaski and Ali Mansour, and a law-enforcement member, Ali al-Doumani.

”US misuses UN peace plan to destabilize Syria”

Western countries will keep on trying to destabilize the situation in Syria and it will not stop until either the Syrian regime is able to repel all of these attacks – and this is not the duty of the Syrian regime alone, but it is also the duty of other allies of the Syrian regime because what is being targeted here is not just the Syrian regime by itself, but as I said before, it is part of a bigger struggle, a global struggle between the US and its allies and Russia, Iran and China on the other hand who are allied to the Syrian regime.
So, it’s a geo-political struggle and we need to see it in this way to better understand it. I don’t see it as the opposition calling for democracy. It’s an opposition calling for a new regime that cuts its relations with Iran, with Russia, with China and by the US to redraw the geo-political map of the whole of the globe and the new century. At the core of the crisis now, at the core of this struggle lies in Syria.
